Senator Douye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was on Friday sworn in as the elected governor of Bayelsa State.
Recall that The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in compliance with the Supreme Court’s judgment declared Diri winner of the election and issued him a Certificate of Return.
The governor was sworn at exactly 6:55pm on Friday by Chief Judge of Bayelsa, Hon. Justice Kate Abiri.
According to reports, the ceremony was hurriedly carried out and the citations of the governor and his deputy were not read.
Governor Duoye Diri is the 5th democratically elected Governor of Bayelsa State.
